A 1930's house was purchased by an individual client in the Ravelston area of Edinburgh. After considering it as a refurbishment project, it was decided to demolish the existing 1½ storey house and build a larger two storey house in its place. Iain Gaul Architects were appointed to assist with both the design and construction of the house.
The elevations are traditional to allow the house to blend in with the surrounding houses but the internal accommodation is contemporary. The large open plan kitchen/eating area/ family room to the rear with large glazed openings provides attractive and useable space with the glazed screen opening out into the large garden.
